A rhyme is a set of sounds that are repeated in two words in the last stressed vowel, generating in the receiver of the message a sense of rhythm and musicality. For example: dogtion - emotion.
Rhymes are widely used in poetry, although there is also free poetry that does not use rhymes.
In addition, rhymes are often used to favor the cognitive processes of the child, and that is why the little ones enjoy rhymes and songs that promote action through this combination of sounds.
There are two types of rhymes:
- Consonant rhymes. All the sounds (vowels and consonants) of the last syllable match. For example: home - pass.
- Assonance rhymes. Only the vowels coincide and the consonants vary. For example: course - donkey.
