The prefixes after- and trans- are used to indicate to the other side or through. For example: afterladar, transcarry.
Both forms are accepted and its writing is correct according to the Royal Spanish Academy. Although in general lines you can write almost all the words indistinctly with trans- or with after-, there are some that are more frequently written in a single way.

Examples of words that usually use the prefix tras-
- Background. That is on the other side of something apparent.
- Move. Change an object or person from one place to another.
- Traslight. That you see through the light.
- Stay up late. Spending the night without sleep or sleeping very little.
- Misplacing. Losing a role among other similar roles.
- Transfer. Something that passes from one side to the other.
- Stumble. Stumbling or stomping.
- Backstage. What happens behind a store.
- Upset. Alter something in its process or development.
- Disorder. Change or alteration in the process of a person or thing that cannot return to its first state.

- Transcend. Exceed the ordinary.
- Upset. Modify.
- Move. Move from one side to another.
- Stumble. Trip on.
- Transcendence. A consequence of great importance.
- Transcontinental. That is or is behind the continent.
- Transcribe. Write a letter again.
- Transalpine. Which is located on the other side of the Swiss Alps.
- Transandino. Which is located on the other side of the Andes.
- Transatlantic. Which is on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
- Transfer. Transfer merchandise or objects from one vehicle to another.
- Elapse. Let time pass.
- Transsexual. Person who takes physical characteristics of the opposite sex.
- Transfer. Banking operation that consists of transferring money from one bank account to another.
- Transfigure. Change.
- Transformer. Something that modifies or stands between two things.
- Turncoat. Person who runs away or flees from a party.
- Transfuse. It is said of the passage of a liquid from one container to another.
- Transfusion. It is said that a liquid (particularly blood) that one subject donates to another.
- Transgress. Act against what the law establishes or says.
- Trans-siberian. That runs through or lies behind Siberia.
- Transmediterranean. Which is behind the Mediterranean.
- To transmit. Make a person receive a message or news.
- Transnational. Corresponding to something that belongs to several nations.
- Transoceanic. That is or crosses the ocean.
- Transparent. That it has no coloration and can be seen behind that object or thing.
- Transpose. Change.
- Transport. Carrying or moving a person or thing from one place to another using a means of transport.
- Transfer. Pass a liquid from one container to another.
- Cross. That crosses perpendicular to something else.
