The means of transport they serve to transport people from one place to another. Mostly there are more means of transport in urban centers. However, in order to communicate one place with another, and to allow the movement of people, means of transport are found in almost all parts of the world where there are people.

The means of transport has the purpose of moving one or more people from one point to another. Therefore it is a means of communication. However, a means of transport can also be used for the transfer of information or goods.

There are different means of transport that can be classified according to their access route:

Land route. It is a means of transport that circulates overland. Within this group it is possible to distinguish 2 different means of transport: mechanical and natural. This type of transportation has been used since ancient times. In fact, humanity is considered to have taken an evolutionary leap with the invention of the wheel.
- Mechanical. It involves the manufacture or labor of man in that means of transport. For example a vehicle, a train, a bicycle.
- natural. Throughout the history of mankind, certain animals have been used as a means of land transport. For example mules for transporting goods, horses for the movement of people or carriages.

Waterway. It refers to the transport that moves through water (rivers, seas or lakes). Within this large group are ships, ships, sailboats, boats, launches and submarines. This type of means of transport is older than the previous one. It began to be implemented during the period of expansion of ancient civilizations that required the commercial exchange of goods.

Airway. Its form of movement is by air. Among these means of transport are helicopters and airplanes. Although this is one of the means of transport that humans have started to use in recent times from the point of view of the evolution of humanity, they have also used it before. Thus, for example, a means of air transport used in the seventeenth century was the zeppelin or the hot air balloon.

Beyond this classification, it is important to distinguish that there are means of public access and other private access.

Public transport. A public transport is one that is publicly accessible, that is, through a modest fee the person has the right to travel on it. Examples of public transport, taxi, public planes, buses.

The birth of public transport took place with the formation of towns and later cities. These transports are intended to transport several people from one point to another. They mostly consist of established or fixed routes, although this can be variable given that there are certain types of transport such as vehicles for taxis that circulate freely through the streets waiting for passengers who need to be transferred.

Private transport. It is one that is for personal or private use and that can only be used by the owner or by persons authorized by him. Examples of this type of transport are: cars, private planes and helicopters.

There is also a third classification that must be taken into account and it is the one that distinguishes the transport of cargo from that of people.

Freight transport. The purpose of these transports is to transport a merchandise. They can be, in turn, by sea, land or air. They are mostly transporting objects. They can be public or private.

Passenger transport. This transport can be public or private and, at the same time, by land, sea or air. Public transport can be differentiated into two large groups:
- Urban transport. They are those transports that are within the same city or town. Their purpose is to move people from one point to another but within the same city. This type of transport is public.
- Long distance transportation. They are those who move from one point to another further away. These, in turn, can be land, sea or air. They usually travel long distances and take several hours, days or months.
