The prefixultra-, of Latin origin, means “beyond”, “that exceeds” or “on the other side of”. It is a prefix that is frequently used to indicate something that exceeds the normal parameters of something. For example: ultraright, ultramodern.
This prefix supports the variant ulter-, which maintains the same meaning. For example: ulterior (which is on the other side of a thing).
