The mixed questions They are interrogations that include several questions of different types (open and closed). For example: Do you want icecream? What taste?
In general, there are two types of questions:
- Open questions. They are comprehensive and without too many restrictions to the answer that the user can give, they do not have a limitation in the way of answering it. For example: How was your acting career?
- Closed questions. They offer a reduced range of options (it may even be only two) so that according to that it is answered. For example: You studied at the University?
Mixed questions are those that do not fully fit one of the two groups mentioned because they have characteristics of both. Mixed questions are usually several questions, of which the first is closed and the others are open, consecutive to the first.
What are mixed questions used for?
Mixed questions combine open and closed questions. They are usually used in different types of questionnaires with different objectives:
- Get information. For example: He has children? How many?
- Choose an alternative. For example: Would you like a drink? Which?
- Get an opinion. For example: Are you in favor of this law? Why?
- Assess knowledge. For example: Does the moon move around the sun? How?
In general, the first thing that is asked is what is closed, which has an immediate answer, and then elaborates on the open question with more words.
Examples of mixed questions
- Do you like long trips? What do you feel when you leave your home for so long?
- In what year did the Batalla de Caseros take place? Discuss the most important causes and consequences.
- From the list below, choose your favorite movie. Please justify your vote below.
- Is your son called Francisco? How does it feel to have chosen the same name as the Pope?
