The circumstantial is a syntactic function present in the predicate that provides information about the circumstances in which the action takes place. Syntactically, they are dispensable figures, that is, their presence or absence does not alter the syntactic functioning, but they are important to provide greater clarity. Due to their "dispensable" characteristic, they can also be moved.

For example: My brother ran yesterday / Yesterday My brother ran / My brother ran yesterday / My brother ran.

According to the information they provide, there are several types of circumstantial: mode, company, place, affirmation, denial, time, instrument, cause, purpose, concession, quantity.

In turn, those that begin in a preposition are called a circumstantial complement.

The circumstantial of time provides information about the moment in which the action takes place and is identified because it is the information that answers the question "When?".

For example: You are coming to the theater tonight. ¿When are you coming to the theater? Tonight.
