Nouns that derive from verbs are those that come from actions or processes. Sometimes these nouns can be confused with verbs in the infinitive but the difference is that the nouns have an acronym in their own right and cannot be conjugated.

Formation of a noun derived from a verb

These nouns are formed using:

  • The suffixes -tion; -ction, or -sion. For example: cook - coction, ework - elaboratetion
  • The suffixes -ado, -ada, -ido, -ida. For example: wash - lavadored, call - callada
  • Suffix -I lie. For example: park - parklie, levacuate - liftI lie
  • The suffix -aje. For example: host - hostedaje, land - landedaje

Masculine nouns without apparent suffix

Also, nouns derived from verbs may not use any of these suffixes. These are usually masculine nouns. Some examples of these nouns are: harass - harass, cultivate - cultivate, test - test, transport - transport
