Primitive nouns
Is called primitive noun to those words from which it is possible to form other words derived from the first. These are made up of a basic lexeme. Thus, primitive nouns can be called in comparison to nouns derived from them.
It is, through primitive nouns that series of words or families of words can be formed. The importance of primitive nouns is that they serve as the basis for the constitution of other words, whether or not they are substantive, related to the first one, but which modify its meaning. Thus, from the noun "soul" the adjective can be derived dessouldo, that is, a person who does not have pity or compassion.
Primitive nouns cannot carry any other type of morpheme that has its own meaning.
Derived nouns
The derived nouns are those that, taking a primitive noun, add morphemes to modify the meaning of the primitive noun, thus generating a derived noun. In this way, word families are formed.
The constitution of many word families belongs to a specific idiolect or sociolect. Thus, for example the noun Mexico (primitive noun) can have several derived nouns such as mexicanísimo, mexicaneada, mexicanizado, etc. although its use is rare outside this country. In other words, derived nouns can belong to a particular sociolect.
However, there are many derived nouns that are used by all speakers of the same language. Finally, it is important to clarify that a primitive noun can derive derived nouns or verbs, adjectives or adverbs derived from it.
