The simple words They are those that have only one lexeme in their structure. For example: clothing (simple word), clothing, clothe, wardrobe (derived words).

A word is a linguistic unit with meaning and that is formed by:

• Lexema or root. It is the part of the word that is not modified, that remains unchanged.
• Morpheme. They are the prefixes or suffixes that are added to the stem to create new derived words.

Simple words are those that have only one lexeme, and do not have morphemes. For example: the word sport is a simple word formed by the lexeme deport-. From it, other words are derived which are referred to as derived words by, for example: sportstista,sportstive,sportstea.

Simple words can be:

• Nouns For example: school, nail, woman.
• Adjectives For example: blue, big, beautiful.
• Verbs: For example: leave, take, know.
• Adverbs. For example: yesterday, now, never.
