The verb 'to have’In English means to have, but it is also an auxiliary verb to build some past tenses, specifically, the present perfect (equivalent to the past perfect compound) and the past perfect (equivalent to the past perfect or antecopreterite).

For this reason it is a very used verb, since when you want to describe an action that occurred in the past but close, with implications in the present, it is more correct to use the present perfect than the past simple.

Differences between have and has

The difference between 'have' and 'has' it is of form and not of meaning and is linked to the person.‘Have’ is the right way for all people except for the third singular (both feminine and masculine), the latter require the form 'has'.

Sometimes ‘Have’ is used associated with the word ‘got’, this emphasizes the nuance of belonging that have has and are used when you want to convey that you have something.
