Proper nouns are those that are identified with a unique or proper name and thus allow an individualization of either a person, animal, things or ideas, while common nouns designate categories of people, animals, things or ideas .
For example:
A dog called "Puppi", is within the category of dogs as common noun, but at the same time, "Puppi" is a proper name of this dog, therefore Puppi is a Propper noun.
The proper names in animals are used for domestic animals although they can also be used for animals in a zoo or farm. Often the proper nouns can be diminutives or invented names but in other cases proper nouns of people are used.
