Spelling rules for Z
- Combination Z + C. It is applied when the verbs in the first person of the present indicative and the subjunctive that end in -acer. For example: nazcto (to be born), merezcto (deserve), luzAC (to show off). The exception to this rule are verbs cook Y do.
- Nouns ending in -azgo. For example: they rockazgo, Leaderazgo, hartazgo.
- Adjectives that end in -izo or -iza. It applies when they come from a verb. For example: slipI hoist (slide), movehoists (move)scaredzo (frighten).
- Nouns and adjectives ending -az. It is applied in those words that indicate qualities. For example: sagazhaveaz, audaz, falaz, vivaz.
- When in plural they end in -ces. It applies when words, in the singular, end in Z. For example: walnuts / nutz, judges / thuz, lights / luz, crosses / cruz.
- Nouns ending in -aza or -azo. For example: manaza, porrazo, ballazo, goalazo, manotazo.
- Nouns ending in -anza. They must come from a verb. For example: I taughtanza (teach)I waitedanza (wait), yearninganza (yearn), order (order).
- Words with the suffix -zuelo or -zuela. It is a derogatory or diminutive suffix. For example: thiefzuelo, old - oldzuela, saucepan - cazuela.
- Verbs ending in -izar. Applies to those that come from an adjective or noun. For example: riczar (curl), minimhoist (minimum), privathoist (private). This rule does not apply to those verbs in which the ending does not apply as a suffix are written with S. For example: improvise, delay, smooth.
